The Weeknd and Calvin Harris released their new collaboration “Over Now” on Friday (August 28).
The accompanying CGI-enhanced visual, directed by Emil Nava, shows The Weeknd grooving in a room adorned by a chandelier, which later turns into a neon-tipped dance floor.
“I need you to know that we ain’t ever gonna go back/ This time it got so bad,” the Weeknd sings on the grooving slow jam about breaking up for good. “It’s not the same/ ‘Cause it’s over now/ Don’t get too confused girl it’s over now/ No coming back around/ Nothing left to lose girl it’s over now.”
The video features city and nature scenes and also takes the viewers on a trip into space.
The Weeknd released his fourth studio album After Hours in March. “Blinding Lights,” a track from that album achieved the feat of spending the most weeks on top of Billboard‘s all-format Radio Songs airplay chart.
Harris’ last full-length album was Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 in 2017. He subsequently released a collab with Normani in 2018, and released three EPs earlier this year under his Love Regenerator alias.
