Off the back of the soap story, the actress, 42, has clashed on Twitter with her former co-star Vicky Entwistle.
Jane branded Vicky as “disrespectful” after she left a comment which hit out at the writers of Coronation Street.
It all came about as Georgia, who plays Jane's onscreen step-sister Toyah Battersby, wrote on the social media platform: “My beautiful, brilliant friend @RealJaneDanson You blow me away #corrie,” following Jane’s performance on the show.

However, former Corrie star Vicky, who was on the show from 1997 to 2011, replied: “But imagine if she had better writers behind her!!! That really would have been something!!!”
Vicky’s comment was met by a whole host of backlash, and Leanne actress Jane wrote back: “That's so disrespectful. They were some of the best scripts i have ever had. Shame on you for writing that! Very disappointed how mean that comment was!”
Vicky later apologised about her comment, and tweeted: “I have apologised to @RealJaneDanson this morning. Rightly so. She is a wonderful actress! My tweet was childish and hurtful. I realise that and am truly sorry for any hurt I may have caused.”

Of the storyline, Jane said: “We just hope we’ve told it truthfully. I’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of families in this situation who are watching. That’s blown me away. People stop me in the street to say the writing and the performances have been really accurate.

“It’s amazing to hear, but it’s really sobering, as well, because we are just pretending.”
And discussing filming the heartbreaking scenes while being a mum herself, Jane added: “I think you’d be lying if you said it didn’t have some kind of effect on you. It is a very different thing, although pain is pain.
“You know what that feels like. Just reading the scripts, there were several times when I had to put them down because it was so hard. I couldn’t see for tears. We’ve all had sadness I’m sure at some point in our lives, but I did try to distance myself from that.
“It is a different story, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t touch a nerve here and there.”
