Ellen DeGeneres' wife Portia de Rossi speaks out amid controversy

Ellen DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi has spoken out to support the host amid the controversy surrounding her talk show.

The Ellen Show has come under fire in recent weeks with claims that former employees were subjected to mistreatment from producers and other staff members, creating a so-called ‘toxic’ work environment.

As Ellen, 62, continues to receive backlash, Scandal actress Portia took to Instagram to encourage social media to ‘be kind to one another’.

Alongside an image which states: ‘I stand by Ellen,’ Portia added in the caption: ‘To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support. #stopbotattacks. #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres #IStandByEllen #IstandByEllenDeGeneres.’

One hashtag urged: ‘#bekindtooneanother.’

The Ellen Show has been hit with a barrage of accusations including intimidation, racism, and even allegations of sexual misconduct against a producer.

An expose was published by Buzzfeed featuring 10 workers coming forward with their alleged experiences working behind-the-scenes on the hit daytime talk show.

It prompted Ellen, who has not been personally accused of mistreatment, to issue an apology to her employees.

In the letter, the comedian said she took full ‘responsibility’ for the working environment at The Ellen Show as her name is the brand. She insisted that she had no idea what had gone on and was working with WarnerMedia to stomp out the ‘toxic’ environment.

‘I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,’ she said according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Everybody Loves Raymond actor Brad Garrett said he knew ‘more than one person’ who had been mistreated at The Ellen Show.

He tweeted: ‘Sorry but it comes from the top ⁦@TheEllenShow… Know more than one who were treated horribly by her.⁩ Common knowledge.’

Sources claimed that Ellen was ready to ‘call it quits’ after 17 years fronting the show, but executive producer Andy Lassner said she wasn’t going anywhere.

‘Nobody is going off air,’ he stated.

Yesterday, Ellen was spotted grabbing fresh air and going for a walk with a friend in Santa Monica.
