Love Island: Fans call for Ollie Williams to be AXED from the show after he was snapped posing with dead animals from an overseas hunt

Love Island fans have called for Ollie WIlliams to be axed from the new line-up after he was exposed as a trophy hunter who gleefully poses next to the animals he kills.

It emerged on Friday that Ollie, 23, who is one of 12 stars who will enter the villa on Sunday, has travelled to several foreign destinations to take part in hunts — even shooting endangered animals.

The news has prompted many fans and a host of stars including Malin Anderssen and Luisa Zissman to call for him to be ditched from the ITV show.

One fan wrote: ‘Get Ollie Williams off Love Island before it begins, no one wants to watch someone who kills endangered animals for trophy pictures.  

A second said: ‘that ollie williams on the new love island series is a trophy hunter and has loads of pics of him next to endangered animals he’s killed , and he’s going on love island ??? boot him off doesn’t deserve a platform.

And a third remarked: ‘How can you allow this to of happened???!!!!! ITV I hope things are being put in place to remove or stop this vile Ollie human from going into the villa.’ 

Celebrities were also quick to criticise Ollie, with former apprentice star Luisa Zissman saying on Instagram: ‘Killing beautiful innocent animals in their own homes and habits is sickening.

‘What kind of person does that? He’s a spoilt rich kid with nothing better to do than try and impress people with money his parents earn and kill animals.’

Former Love Island star Malin Andersson wrote on Twitter: ‘This ain’t right at all. Honestly @Loveisland what’s going on with ya.’

Fellow former Love Islander Mario Falcone wrote: ‘Disgusting… how have love island missed this?’

Gemma Atkinson, who has previously supported a ban on trophy hunting, retweeted the criticism.  

And conservationist and presenter Ben Fogle told The Sun that he found it hard to relate to people who would pay money to kill a ‘beautiful creature’. 

However, a source close to Ollie told The Sun that Ollie had been ‘culling sick animals’ as part of conservation work. 

They said: ‘It is categorically untrue to suggest Ollie is involved in hunting for sport.

‘Ollie is a passionate conservationist and worked with an anti-poaching unit in Mozambique.

‘Conservation is crucial to the survival of animals and as part of that work Ollie was involved in the culling of sick animals who were a threat to the health of the herd.

They added there was an ‘important difference’ between trophy hunting and Ollie’s ‘conservation work’. 

In the pictures, Ollie, who is set to inherit the 2,000-acre Lanhydrock estate in Cornwall, he is seen standing over dead warthog and water buffalo among other animals.

One now-deleted picture is of him with a giant eland — a type of antelope which has been listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Another of the Viscount-in-waiting with a slaughtered beast is captioned: ‘You’ve gotta love it when you put your binos up and see a bull like this on the other end!’

According to The Sun, the snaps were taken to promote his hunting business, Cornish Sporting Agency.

It offered ‘unforgettable sporting experiences’ in Mozambique and South Africa, as well as bird shooting events in south west England.

The agency’s website was taken ‘offline’ in November 2018 but, according to Companies House records, Oliver Sebastian James Williams is still the company’s active director.

The shocking photos were posted on an Instagram account that was deleted before it was announced Ollie would be in the new winter series of Love Island in South Africa.

A source said: ‘It’s disgusting. These are vulnerable animals. Why would you do that, let alone try and promote it? He’s so arrogant, so entitled and thinks he’s God’s gift to women.’ 

A spokeswoman for ITV said: ‘It is categorically untrue to suggest Ollie is involved in hunting for sport.

‘Ollie is a passionate conservationist and worked with an anti-poaching unit in Mozambique.

‘Conservation is crucial to the survival of animals and as part of that work Ollie was involved in the culling of sick animals who were a threat to the health of the herd.

‘There is a very big and important difference between trophy hunting and the conversation work Ollie has previously been involved in.

‘At no point has Ollie organised or booked anybody to go to Africa to shoot game.’

The new series of Winter Love Island starts on ITV2 on Sunday night.
