Former Strictly Pro Erin Boag says Bruno has made his choice and Anton should stay

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Erin Boag has said that Bruno Tonioli has "made his choice" to stay in America rather than return to Strictly this year and therefore Anton Du Beke should remain on the judging panel for future seasons.

The dancer – who is also often Anton Du Beke's partner for professional competitions – spoke to OK! about her opnion on the situation.

She explained that since stepping up to the judging panel, Anton has made a huge difference and is really respected by the professional dancers on the show.

"I love him on it. He's great. I really hope the BBC make him a permanent fixture," Erin explains to OK!

The star – who was also a professional on the show for ten years – added: "He's loving it. I was with him yesterday and I speak to him a lot about it – he absolutely loves it. He's been a great addition."

Erin continued to say that the professionals on the show "really respect" Anton as he has been in their position.

She explained: "The professionals really respect him having been there and done it, but also his criticisms are very constructive. He seems to make a nice balance in the judging panel.

"It's also nice to have someone who has been there and done it, and is also a specialist in what the professionals do.

"He knows what to say and what they're going through."

New Zealander Erin, 46, continued to say that Bruno had "made his choice" to stay in America and therefore she believes Strictly should keep Anton on as a judge.

She said: "I say that Bruno has picked his side – he's had two years to decide and he's gone for America both times. So, I think you make a choice and you snooze you lose. "

Anton, 55, stepped up to the judging panel this year and has received a warm welcome from fans.

Speaking to OK! recently, the star admitted he was enjoying his time on the panel – although he does miss dancing.

He explained: "I am a bit, especially when I see a number I wish I’d done, or hear a song and go, “I’d love to have done that.” Like when Tom Fletcher danced a foxtrot to Fly Me To The Moon.

"I wanted to nudge him out of the way and have a dance with Amy [Dowden]. I don’t think he’d have appreciated that. But I’m not missing the bit where they go, 'And not dancing next week is…' I’m loving coming back every week, so I’ll carry on judging please.

Erin Boag is ambassador for Footner Exfoliating Sock’s Party Feet campaign 2021.
