Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, is partnered with Dragon’s Den star Sara Davies, 37, on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. The Strictly professional revealed that two weeks ago whilst the judges were critiquing the pairs performance, he “zoned out”.

I totally zoned out.

Speaking to Rylan Clark on It Takes Two, Aljaz admitted he did not listen to the judge’s comments.

Sara said: “I’m not going to lie, I really took a knock confidence wise the week before.

“The thing that was difficult was that Aljaz was so pleased and because he was pleased I was really pleased.

“And then the judges were not so pleased and that was really difficult.”

Sara then discussed how happy she was to be kept in the competition after the judges feedback and said how nice it feels to know she has a public following.

She said: “That relief was ten times better than the judges when they gave us a bit of a kick in.”

Aljaz added: “To be completely fair I totally zoned out when the judges started talking after their second comment.

“I was like yeah, don’t listen.”

The dance the pair are referring to was on Halloween week when they were devoured by the panel as their Game of Thrones Couple’s Choice failed to impress.

They danced to Whitney Houston’s Queen of the Night, with the pressure on them to perform after topping the leaderboard the week before with their tango.

Despite Sara and Aljaz believing the performance went really well, the judges did not agree.

Shirley Ballas told them “something wasn’t quite right” for her, finding fault with Sara’s facial expressions.

She ended saying: “It wasn’t quite my cup of tea tonight but good try.”

Craig Revel Horwood added to the blow, telling the couple that he didn’t think “there were many highlights” in their dance.

Aljaz did speak at the end, to take the pressure off Sara and take blame for their Couple’s Choice.

He said: “I’m going to take the full blame for this because it was Couple’s Choice, so I will take the full blame, it’s nothing to do with Sara Davies…sorry about that.”

Sara and Aljaz best score that night came from Motsi, with her awarding a seven, while Craig gave just four out of 10 and Shirley and Anton both gave six.

Last week saw an improvement for the couple after that setback scoring an impressive three eight’s and one nine.

When Rylan asked Aljaz what he thought of last weeks score, he replied: “It was alright, it was alright.”

The pair are hoping to get even higher this week, with the contest heating up week on week.
