Janette Manrara issues apology for ‘wanting time for herself’ after being apart from Aljaz

Strictly: Janette Manrara receives message from Aljaz Skorjanec

Strictly Come Dancing pro Janette Manrara, 37, has apologised to her 426,000 Instagram followers for taking time away from posting on the app. The dancer admitted she opted for a social media “hiatus”, as she wanted to take some “time for herself” following a “crazy year”.

It comes after Janette was unable to spend time with her husband Aljaz Skorjanec, 30, while they were competing in Strictly 2020.

In order for the hit show to go ahead amid the coronavirus pandemic, dancing duos formed their own bubbles and were not allowed to mix with others.

The star had been living alone in an apartment in order to rehearse for the BBC show with her partner HRVY, while Aljaz returned to their home after being voted out of the programme alongside his partner, Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo.

Janette, who made it to the show’s final with HRVY, opened up about her social media absence as she returned to Instagram for a Q&A session with fans last night, following news of the third national lockdown.

She began by asking her followers: “What did you guys do on the first Monday of 2021?”

Janette followed this up by sharing a photo of Prime Minister Boris Johnson announcing new measures for England.

She wrote alongside the snap of her TV: “Tough news for us all. We have each other.

“I’m coming out of my hiatus as of tomorrow to do my little part to keep us all connected during this lockdown.

“Love you team! We got this.”(sic)

After posting about the lockdown news, Janette interacted with fans who were informing her about what they got up to yesterday.

The Strictly favourite took the opportunity to apologise for her previous social media silence when one of her followers admitted they had spent the day “waiting for her to post”.

Janette replied: “I’m sorry! Just wanted some time for myself after a crazy year (although with a wonderful ending doing Strictly).

“But I’m back!!!! Ready to keep us all connected during this lockdown.

“Human connection is so important!”

Janette previously admitted struggling with missing her husband and fellow Strictly pro Aljaz while they were forced to spend time apart.

The star said at the time: “I miss Aljaz so much and it’s been so hard seeing him at the studio – because of the rules, I can’t touch him or run over and hug him.

“We speak every night before I go to bed, and thank God for FaceTime.

“Absence has definitely made the heart grow fonder for us, and I know more than ever just how much I really do love him, because I can’t wait to get back home.”

Aljaz also admitted living separately from Janette would become more difficult if one of their dance partners left the show.

On living apart during the show, he said: “The two of us are so focused with jobs, so at the moment it’s OK because we’re so busy, but if one of us [were to] be eliminated and then… one of us [would] have to be at home on their own.

“That’s [when] I think it would get a little bit harder,” he went on to say on Decathlon’s new podcast, The Power of 10.
