Josie Gibson says she cried after presenting This Morning with Phillip Schofield

Josie Gibson has revealed she was left emotional after presenting This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield while Holly Willoughby was sick.

The 36 year old replaced blonde beauty Holly, 40, on Tuesday 16 November, after she fell ill with the tummy bug. At the time, Phillip, 59, told viewers: "Holly is not here today because she has a tummy bug. Nothing more than that, so she'll be back here tomorrow."

Returning to the sofa for a second day while Holly is still unwell, Josie couldn't help but open up about how overwhelmed she was after yesterday's show.

She told Phillip that she had a "good cry" when she got home as it was such "a big thing" for her to be presenting alongside him instead of doing her usual competition segment.

Phillip first introduced the show as he said: "Welcome to your Wednesday this morning and look who's back!"

Embarrassed, Josie replied: "Oh thank you very much for having me back," as Phillip insisted: "No, there was a massive response, people loved you…"

Josie then explained: "Do you know what? Social media can be quite a dark place at times. But yesterday I was showered with love.

"I had a good cry, I did have a cry for about half an hour after the show."

Phillip then joked: "Well I often do that after the show…" while laughing before asking: "Of what, relief?"

Josie shared: "It was just so emotional. It was a really big thing to be sat here with you yesterday and to have all those lovely messages. It was just so lovely," she told him.

At first, many were sceptical of former Big Brother winner Josie's ability to carry off presenting, particularly when her usual slot involves such hilarious and zany sketches, such as getting stuck in a bin.
