Laura Anderson thanks religious figure for saving my love after car crash

Laura Anderson has thanked the religious figure St. Joseph for "saving my love," a day on from her boyfriend Gary Lucy's horrific car crash.

Ex-Eastenders star Gary, 41, miraculously walked away from the smash with just a swollen knee, which is all the more incredible when you see pictures of his car, the bonnet of which was completely crushed.

Former Love Island star Laura, 33, has been keeping her followers updated with Gary's progress, as she shared a video of him in hospital as he leaned on crutches, before posting a clip of him resting up at home on the sofa with her Pomeranian dog buddy.

Laura posted a laminated card of the religious St. Joseph as she explained that it was given to Gary by his gran.

Alongside the snap, she wrote: "We're not religious but thank you St. Joseph for saving my love.

"Gary's gran gave him this. It has words about safety and protection on the other side. I pulled it out his bag yesterday morning just before his accident."

She then put a question box at the bottom, asking her followers: "Do you keep anything sentimental with you for safety and protection?"

Laura and Gary spent Christmas together with their loved ones the day before the smash, which happened on Boxing Day, although it's not clear how exactly it happened.

Gary had shared a snap of the mangled car to Instagram as he said "someone was watching over me today," before posting another picture of the front of the vehicle where the bonnet was completely smashed in, as he wrote "Gary 9 lives" over the top.

Laura then posted a collage of snaps from various points during the two days, from Christmas to the crash, as she wrote: "The exciting life of the Luce. Always keeping me on my toes."

In the pictures, it sees Gary's destroyed car at 10am, the actor in hospital at 11am, leaving on crutches at 6pm and resting up at home.

Laura and Gary are clearly loved-up after meeting on Channel 4's Celebs Go Dating, where the format is usually that the various celebs are matched up with non-famous people for dates.

The connection was stronger with Gary and Laura, though, and they often post gushing tributes to one another on social media.

Gary even has Laura's mum's seal of approval, as Laura revealed that her mum "fancies him".

She told OK!: "My mum fancies him! And my friends are obsessed. One of them messaged me the other day and she’s like, ‘Can you believe we used to watch Footballers’ Wives and you’re now dating Gary Lucy, how does that feel?’

“And I’m like, ‘Shut up!’ I don’t think about it like that.

"But then I was looking at him on a date and I was like, ‘It’s weird that I know your face. You’re like a celebrity.’ It’s like you would recognise them anywhere because you’ve just seen them so much.

“I was like, ‘It’s weird that I already know your face so much just from seeing pictures over time or whatever.’ I was like, ‘This is weird.’ I don’t think he really knew anything about me. He said he knew I was on Love Island and that’s about it.”
