Lucy Fallon admitted she "wasn't ready" for marriage and children months before her "split" from Tom Leech.

The 24 year old has reportedly split from Tom after four years together, with a source claiming that lockdown "drove them apart".

Former Coronation Street star Lucy revealed she wasn't ready to take her relationship with Tom to the next step in an exclusive interview with OK! magazine just before the country was put into lockdown back in March.

Lucy and Tom enjoyed a romantic trip to Barbados after she stepped down from her role as Bethany Platt in the hit ITV soap after five years.

While Tom said that the future holds "marriage and kids" for the pair, Lucy said: "Starting a family is ages away. There is loads I want to do. I'm not ready for that and we're quite selfish."

Lucy also admitted she knew Tom wouldn't propose during the romantic trip, adding: "It didn't even cross my mind.

"Hopefully I'll be like that until it happens so it's a surprise. If I was like that every time we went away I'd be thinking, 'Damn it, he didn't do it again!'"

Following the romantic trip, the then loved-up pair also revealed what it was about the other that made them fall in love.

Lucy said: "Tom makes me laugh and he's a really determined person. He will also put other people before himself."

While Tom commented: "One of my favourite things about Lucy is that she doesn't accept or appreciate how talented she is.

"She's also always the life and soul of the party. You could stick her in an empty room and she could manage to make a good time of it.

"Also, not many people get to see the side of her with her family, but with her nephews it's nice watching her with them as I know she'll make a great mum."

On Tuesday, The Sun broke the news of Lucy and Tom's reported split, with a source saying: "She and Tom have called it quits and are no longer together. They spent lockdown together but it gave them time to evaluate what they want.
