Monty Don reveals how to take care of succulents
Gardening expert Monty Don has unearthed a poignant picture of his beloved dog Nigel, eight months after the pooch’s death. The Gardeners’ World host revealed that it was the last picture of Nigel with his other two dogs.
The good-natured Golden Retriever could be seen with Nellie, also a retriever, and Patti, a Yorkshire terrier.
“Found this today – the last picture of the three dogs together,” he informed his 207,100 Twitter followers.
Many took to the comments section of the picture to share their thoughts, after falling in love with Monty’s four-legged friends following their regular appearances on his gardening show.

“What a lovely picture. I miss Nigel as I’m sure Nell and Patti do. Thank you for sharing it,” one social media user wrote beside the snap.
“Lovely photo, missed Nigel as if he was my own, but must say Lady Nell has taken up the challenge to be Queen of Gardeners’ World quite well,” a second added.
“We always look forward to GW and seeing you and all the dogs. We’re glad to have known Nigel, even if vicariously through tv and your writing. Stay well, lovely man,” a third person remarked.
Earlier in the day, Monty opened up about filming the BBC programme throughout the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, ahead of a special instalment tonight.
He said it had been a “strange experience”.
The 65-year-old posted a picture of the remote controlled cameras that were used to film the show, ahead of the two-part series looking back at the summer episodes.
He told fans that Nigel would be making a special appearance in the programme.

“Filming GW last year was a strange experience, using only these remote controlled robot cameras in the garden – but it worked,” Monty told fans.
“Tonight at 8 pm on BBC 2 we have the first of two programmes celebrating the very best of the summer – and there will be some Nigel,” he added.
His social media snap captured both Nellie and Nigel in the sunshine.
“Oh my goodness, wasn’t quite prepared for such a flash back. ahh Nigel, you were such a beloved part of the programme,” one emotional viewer penned.
Sharing a similar sentiment, another added: “I know I’ll cry tonight when I see Nigel. He was such a lovely dog, with a charismatic personality, there was something very special about him.”
Some fans thanked the gardener and his team for putting the show together under difficult circumstances, while others wished for more episodes.
“You and the team improvised, adapted and sir-Montyed to deliver the program. I bet it was slow and frustrating, but mightily appreciated,” one wrote in the comments section.
“Surely there should be a winter edition encouraging everyone to get back into their garden!!” another added.
