Nadine Coyle has spoken out against the 'single mum' label, revealing she does not think it's necessary to point out a mother's relationship status.
The I'm a Celeb star thinks the phrase suggests parents don't do as good a job on their own, and that couldn't be further from Nadine's experience.
“I’m not a single mum, I am just a mum," said Nadine, 34.
Nadine, who has five-year-old Anaiya with her ex-fiance Jason Bell, said co-parenting works well for all three of them, and their daughter is their priority.
She insisted the tot always knows what's going on and where she is going to be on certain dates, and Nadine and Jason make it work despite him "doing her head in" regularly.
Speaking to The Sun, Nadine commended mothers for everything they manage to do – but reminded them they do not have to be perfect.
""There is great ability to compartmentalise — to focus on the task at hand, do it well and then move on to the next one, while having another million things going on.”
It’s difficult and there are times when you are like, ‘That’s it’.
“Some days I am fine but us mums are not robots, we are not perfect, we have to give ourselves a break and a pat on the back.”
Before she had her own child, Nadine revealed she was the "local babysitter" , but found the experience of having her own child very different.
She called motherhood "relentless", and said the pressure can be very tough.
Jason and Nadine split last year after 11 years together, saying they had become more like friends than romantic partners.
When asked about a possible reconciliation, Nadine ruled it out – explaining that she met him when she was 22, and she had changed a lot since then.
Nadine is currently enjoying the single life, and was recently spotted out on the town with her I'm a Celeb campmate Caitlyn Jenner.
The stylish pair were seen walking arm-in-arm during their girls night out in Mayfair.
