Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse, 30, joined her former co-star Kevin Clifton, 38, on his podcast where she discussed her life and career. The dancer, who is married to her husband Marius Lepure, opened up about the public’s perception about her.
The two-time Strictly champion lifted the Glitterball Trophy with Kelvin Fletcher in 2019 and again the following year with Bill Bailey.
The South-African born dancer opened up about making headlines as a result of her work.
Oti explained that she often seeks out podcasts in a bid to relax as she opened up about criticism.
Speaking on the Kevin Clifton Show, she explained: “Whenever you’re in the press and you’re having a scandal or whatever, I have to listen to a podcast because it can feel like the world is against you.
“It can feel like people have an opinion on you.”
The Strictly star explained that she has learned to realise that sometimes “things are not happening to you but for you”.
“That really changed my mindset on how I deal with public perception and criticism,” Oti confessed.
The TV star explained that she has been able to cope with any backlash she has received in the past.
Elsewhere, Oti revealed she almost suffered a wardrobe mishap on the Channel 4 show Steph’s Packed Lunch.
The Strictly professional revealed that the outfit she had chosen “didn’t fit” in a last minute change.
Thankfully, her co-star Anton Du Beke was able to step in and rescue her from the fashion nightmare, by lending her his own spare shirt.
Steph McGovern, who hosts the show, could not resist bringing up the hilarious incident live on the programme.

She began: “Oti where did you get that lovely shirt from?”
Anton laughed: “It’s a lovely shirt.”
Oti appearing bashful, replied: “So let me explain right, so lockdown has definitely been tough on me, so I put on a little bit of weight.
“I put on a shirt today, it didn’t fit. There was a struggle going on here,” as she pointed towards her cleavage.
“So then I said, ‘Anton, do you have an extra shirt?’ And he says, ‘I do my lovely’.
“And here we are. I’m dressed as Mrs Anton Du Beke. We are dressed the same.”
Anton sweetly reassured her: “You look lovely”
