Piers Morgan, 55, is known for going back and forth with BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker. The Good Morning Britain host took a cheeky dig at the rival morning television broadcaster in a new interview.

Piers Morgan deliberated on the two presenter’s interview technique as he compared himself to a “rottweiler”.

The ITV broadcaster joked that Dan has a softer approach when speaking with guests on the BBC show compared to himself.

Piers was quizzed on the pair’s cheeky on-screen rivalry as he took a cheeky swipe at Dan.

His comment comes after the TV star was awarded GQ’s TV Personality this year.

Addressing the BBC host, Piers suggested that viewers want to give Dan a “cuddle”.

The GMB host was asked how “good” an interviewer he believed the BBC host to be.

Piers claimed the two had very different styles to their approach on TV.

“Dan [Walker] is what I would call a chihuahua if you categorise me as a rottweiler,” Piers commented.

He added to GQ magazine: [Dan] will try to savage you, but in the end, you just give him a cuddle.”

The presenting duo often goes back and forth with one another on social media as the pair both front morning shows.

It comes as Piers was crowned TV Personality of the Year at the GQ’s Men of the Year Awards 2020 held in association with Hugo Boss.

This year, in accordance with the government’s ongoing measures to help tackle the global Covid-19 pandemic, the event took place entirely online.

The 2020 award winners were announced by host Jack Whitehall – who was filmed from the coliseum London – with fans watching their heroes triumph online.

Piers made an appearance on the winner’s list having continued to present Good Morning Britain while the UK was gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The TV anchor interviewed himself after receiving the coveted prize.

Speaking on the video stream, Piers said: “Tonight, I’m going to be interviewing somebody who divides opinion, like few others.

“Whether he is talking about transgender athletes, vegan sausage rolls, or papooses or President Trump.”

He continued: “He has opinions and attitudes which inflame Twitter on an hourly basis.

“But tonight, he is getting an award for something different and it’s very specific. It’s his scouring of government ministers during this global pandemic, holding them to account on behalf of the British people.

“Trying to get answers when they really don’t want to give them. He is Piers Morgan.”
