Earlier this year, Boots announced that a series of closures would take place across the UK in a major shakeup to its property portfolio.
The health and beauty giant confirmed that 300 stores will close its doors over a 12-month period, with many shutting down within a matter of weeks.
While several sites have already left British high streets, locals in Wakefield are next on the list to bid farewell to their community Boots shops.
According to the retailer, this is because the stores were not expected to meet their financial targets, and also due to the fact that the locations are in very close proximity to one another.
Despite efforts from local residents in Eastmoor to save the pharmacy, the shop is expected to close today, Friday, October 6.

Their petition received more than 1,200 signatures despite the village population being just 3,500.
Campaigner Daniel Husseini told Surrey Live: “People were talking about how vital it is and the added pressure that would be on the other stores.”
