If you’ve watched enough spy films, you’ve probably tried to see if a bookcase moves to reveal a secret room.
We’re usually disappointed, but one hotel is making those nerdy dreams come true with a bookcase that indeed opens up a hidden room.
The Bella Vista Bed & Breakfast in California, right in the middle of wine country, has an area that can only be entered if you use a special door handle.
You can only find the handle if you book a stay in the Monte Vista Suite, which has a large bookcase concealing the entryway.
But, as with any mystery films and novels, the handle won’t be easy to come upon.
You’ll need to be quite the bookworm or just a nosy person and look through the books on the third shelf of the case.
Inside one of these texts is a golden door handle that will need to be attached to the bookcase which can then open the secret portion of the suite.
And voila – a whole reading room all to yourself awaits.
Once you’ve made the exciting discovery, you can walk down the stairs and into the reading space which has a floor to ceiling bookcase.
Grab something that takes your fancy and curl up in the comfy chair on the side.
You can also stare out of the large window which overlooks the lush scenery that surrounds the idyllic property.
Anyone can book the Monte Vista suite for $269 (£207) between Monday to Thursday, or $299 (£230) for Fridays and Sundays.
The décor of the room is described as ‘100 years of Hollywood’ with black and white photos of the stars.
The bedrooms are decorated with a different movie theme. And although the Bella Vista website has pictures of the secret room, it doesn’t tell you how to find it.
The website teases: ‘If you are clever enough, you will find a secret room somewhere in your suite’.
