A DIY expert has shared the impressive way she crafts Poundland hauls into high-end decor people compare to "Picasso".

Liyana, who has a popular DIY and crafting channel on YouTube, loves buying bric-a-brac and even dog toys from the budget store.

She turns them into mid-century and Scandi designs that can sell for around £20 on Etsy.

In one video, she buys a Poundland carafe and modelling clay and – with the help of some spray paint from Wilko – makes a very trendy abstract vase that her fans were gushing over.

Liyana says the plain glass vase cost just £1 and was "really thick and great quality" despite the price.

The clay is found in the "toy section" and Liyana rolls it into shape to make the face details that will go onto the vase.

When the clay is in place, she takes the vase outside and spray-paints it grey with paint she bought from Wilko.

For the finishing touches, she adds a few strands of wheat and the effect is minimalist and chic.

Liyana says she is happy with the "high-end" look of her finished product.

The abstract face vase is compared to the artwork of Pablo Picasso by some viewers.

And, despite its sophisticated finish, it only cost Liyana a few quid to make and was very simple.

When Daily Star searched for similar items on Etsy, they were selling for £20 plus so it's a neat idea for a gift if you decide to make your own.

One viewer commented: "I really dig those, Sister. They put me in mind of Picasso. Can't wait to try this. Blessings and much love."

A second person wrote: "The vase is so stunning, very high end. I think I might try it in a taupe colour."

Someone else said: "I love this style, I particularly like the vase, it’s very stylish and I love the dried wheat in the vase."

Another viewer commented: "Reminded me of Picasso….the vase and dish. A real high-end transformation."

Liyana told Daily Star she has a "love for all things magical and creative" and began crafting three years ago as a hobby and likes to keep her materials cheap.

She said: "I love using Poundland items because it's a store many have near them, and a store everyone associates with a bargain!

"I'm definitely a bargain kinda girl, and I love to inspire people on how to make their pound go even further with unique original ideas, turning everyday £1 items into something completely different."

She added: "I create a few 'trash to treasure' videos where I use things that would literally be thrown, and turn it into something else entirely; giving it a new life and use.

"I love these kind of projects because more people can follow along and use things they already have at home, it also encourages people to recycle and think outside the box.

"The pieces can come out really beautiful and you'd never tell it was rubbish!

"So these are the kind of projects that are 'free' you'd only need essentials like scissors, glue gun, and usually paint."

In one of her videos, she turned an old cardboard box, old glass bottles, and a plastic pot into modern decor and makeup brush holders.
