Easter Sunday means one thing; a slap-up roast dinner and plenty of chocolate. Unfortunately, it’s inevitable that someone will have forgotten something for the big day and will be in need of a last-minute rush to the supermarket.
Opening hours for leading supermarkets such as Asda, Morrisons and Tesco vary a lot over the Easter weekend.
This can cause a lot of stress and hassle for those who haven’t checked ahead of time.
Different stores will be open at different times, so its best to check before you make the effort of leaving the house.
Here is all the information available on opening hours for Asda, Morrisons and Tesco for Easter Sunday.

Will the supermarkets be open on Easter Sunday?
According to UK law, all large shops must close on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This is unfortunate for those who were banking on a trip to the local large supermarket on Sunday, but smaller stores could remain open, typically with reduced opening hours.
The closures are due to rules stating large stores with a square meterage of more than 280 must not open on December 25 and Easter Sunday (April 3 in 2021) and there are significant fines for those who fail to comply with these requirements.
However, these rules do not apply to Scotland, as Easter Sunday is not considered a Bank Holiday, and stores will remain open as normal.
What time does Tesco open?
On Easter Sunday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, all Tesco Extras, Tesco Superstores and Tesco Metro stores will be closed.
However, all Tesco Express stores will be open for the usual hours of 6am to 11pm.
All Tesco stores in Scotland will be open on Easter Sunday as normal.
Opening hours may differ from store to store, so it’s worth checking on the Tesco website.
On Easter Sunday, the retail stores are closed in England and Wales but open for their normal hours in Scotland.
However, Morrisons stores will be open as normal on Easter Saturday.
On Easter Monday, Morrisons stores in England and Wales are open between 7am and 7pm, and 8am to 7pm in Scotland.
You can check your local Morrisons opening hours via the store finder here.
Unsurprisingly, large Asda stores won’t be allowed to open on Easter Sunday.
They will also be open all day on Easter Saturday, so make sure you pre-plan and go the evening before.
You can also check your local Asda’s opening hours via their store locater, here.
