How to stay entertained out of the rain — plus win £50k in The Sun Raffle – The Sun

WHAT a washout summer is at the moment.

But despair not — despite the Met Office warning of the wettest June ever, I have some ideas to brighten things up.

Here you go…

  1. FAKEAWAYS: Takeaways may be tempting but you can get similar at the supermarket far cheaper. Morrisons’ Indian Takeaway for Two is reduced from £7.50 to £5, which works out at just £2.50 per head — a whole lot less than the average £27 spent on a takeaway. Or Asda has two Pizza Express pizzas, 1.75l drink and side for £7. SAVE: At least £2.50 with these deals.
  2. JUST DESSERTS: Sainsbury’s is the place to go for a luxurious sweet treat. Magnum’s Double Caramel ice creams are reduced from £3.20 to £2. If you would rather tuck into a tub of ice cream, Iceland has a two-for-£6 deal on a number of Ben & Jerry’s flavours. They are usually £4.20. SAVE: £2.40 on Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
  3. FILMIN’ GOOD: Asda has your entertainment sorted, rolling back prices on lots of DVDs. Bohemian Rhapsody and Mamma Mia 2 are £7, down from £10. If you are having a family night, you will find 2-for-£8 deals on kids’ films. For a bigger selection, sign up to Google Play for free and check out their download offers. Films such as X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool are reduced from £7.99 to £3.99, while some movie bundles’ prices have been slashed by 50 per cent. It may be worth considering an Amazon Prime trial, too, where you can watch films for free for 30 days. It costs just £7.99 per month if you do not cancel. SAVE: Up to 50 per cent on in-store DVD movie bundles.
  4. DRINK TO THIS: It has been a long week, so you deserve a tipple in front of the telly. Tesco has some great booze deals, with its Mionetto Prosecco priced at £8, down from £11. If you are more of a beer drinker, you can get two Peronis for £4 — usually £2.60 each — or three £2 Birra Morettis for £5.25. SAVE: £3 on Prosecco.
