When it comes to Love Island royalty, Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey most certainly hold the crown. Since winning the show back in 2016, the OG couple have moved in together, got married and now have two children – becoming one of the show’s biggest success stories.

Over their time in the spotlight, Cara, 26, has been very open with fans about her journey with motherhood, sharing everything from her struggles to her top tips for juggling life as a new mum – including some quick and easy hair tutorials.

This week, Cara took to Instagram to share the first episode of her new social series named “mum hack Mondays”, and the star talks fans through her go-to trick for mums who have little time to style their hair.

“Hi guys, for my mummy hack, me and my lovely friend and hairdresser James Johnson, we thought we would show you how to do really easy mummy-hack hair," Cara told her followers.

Asking James what look they are going for, James answers, “We’re going to do easy beach waves that you can do yourself at home as a mum in a rush. All you need is a tong or a wand, whatever you’ve got at home, it works."

Before curling the hair, James gives fans a clever tip for achieving instant volume.

“If you want a bit of bounce, zig-zag your parting, because naturally you’ll get a bit of bounce without trying,” he says.

Moving on to the curling method, James starts by curling the hair nearest to Cara’s hairline away from the face, and recommends leaving the ends of the hair straight for a more beachy look.

James says that leaving the ends out will make your hair look “more beachy, more cooler, more youthful” and states that “sometimes leaving it more flicky can age you.”

As the pair continue through the tutorial, James recommends that “unless you’re going for a more set wave, your next section is going towards your face.”

He explains that you should alternate between curling away from the face and towards the face for a messy, beachy finish.

Handing the curling tongs over the Cara, James watches as the Love Island star attempts the curling method herself.

“This is how bad I am at hair you guys,” Cara jokes, as she muddles up the process.

For the next step, Cara uses the Mark Hill Style Addict Prep & Prime Heat Protection Spray, £6.99 here, before straightening the ends, then brushing through with a wide toothed comb to reveal perfect beachy waves.

To add texture to the hair, Cara sprays the Andrew Fitzsimons Fresh Dry Shampoo, £2.50 here over her locks.

Showing off her finished look, Cara explains to fans that she’d seen a lot of hair tutorials that she just didn’t have a clue how to replicate and wanted to create videos for the average mum looking for styling tips.

Talking about her new mum hack Monday series, the star says, “We are going to be doing these every Monday, if there’s anything you’d like James do on me, comment below.”
