Meghan Markle is pregnant with her second child, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex start to prepare for another baby in the family. But is it more likely to be a boy or girl?

In an announcement, a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan explained: “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

The new addition to the Sussex’s will be the 10th great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II.

The couple currently have one child, Archie, who was born on May 6, 2019.

He is seventh in line of succession to the throne which means the newborn will enter the line behind older brother Archie.

But will the new arrival be a boy or girl?

According to, there is a 51.2 percent chance that a mother could expect a boy.

This only slightly beats the percentage of expecting a girl.

Odds also suggest that for every 100 girls born, there are 105 boys born.

How does this compare to other royals who have had a second child?

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s second child is Princess Charlotte, who is five years old.

However, Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s second child was a boy, James Viscount Severn.

Looking at older members of the family, Princess Anne’s second child was a girl, Zara Tindall.

Zara Tindall and brother Peter Phillips have also had two girls, meaning based on family members, it could be likely that Meghan will also have a girl.

The photo shared on social media of Meghan and Harry was taken by longtime friend of the couple, and photographer, Misan Harriman.

Misan shared the photo of the couple and captioned it: “Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow.

Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!”

Harry and Meghan are yet to reveal what they will call their child, but bookmakers Ladbrokes has suggested that Alfie is an early favourite for a baby boy, and Alexandra for a baby girl.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Huge congratulations to Harry and Meghan on the news of their pregnancy – of course all attention will now turn to the name game and as things stand it’s Alfie and Alexandra leading the way in the betting.”

He added: “Archie was a modern twist on a traditional name, so it’s no surprise Charles/Charlie are up there as things stand at 5/1 apiece.”

For the photo shared online, Meghan looked stunning in a sleeveless maxi dress while she placed her head on Prince Harry’s lap.

The news comes just five days after Princess Eugenie gave birth to her first baby.

Although the name hasn’t been revealed yet, the couple shared a glimpse of the baby boy on social media.
