Mimalist makeup brand and beauty editor fave Merit launches Solo Shadow – here's what I thought | The Sun

US brand Merit Beauty launched in the UK earlier this year and has been a runaway hit, and luckily for fans of the brand, we have good news.

The minimalist beauty brand is about to launch it's first eyeshadow product, their Solo Shadow consists of 8 single shadows split into neutral and statement shades with a cream-to-powder finish.

Available later this month from meritbeauty.com, for £26 the solo shadows will add to the brand’s two other eye products, the Brow 1980 Volumsing Pomade and the Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara.

The Solo Shadows will launch on August 22, and you can sign up to the waiting list here.

Having already tried our hands at some of the new solo shadow shades, we can tell you that the cream-to-powder formula is like nothing we’ve tried before.

Launching on August 22nd, the Solo Shadows consist of neutral shades Brun (deep brown), Midcentury (warm brown), Vachetta (warm beige) and Studio (cool taupe) and statement shades Nelson (soft grey), Social (soft mauve), Viper (warm green), and Midnight (classic navy).

Each shadow is formulated with ingredients from chamomile and calendula extracts which are rich in antioxidants and soothing on the skin and sunflower seed oil which is known to nourish the skin.

We tried out the shades Social, Brun, Midnight and Midcentury.

Each shade works really well on its own, especially when looking to recreate viral makeup looks from TikTok’s favourite bronzy Latte Makeup to Hailey Bieber’s Strawberry Girl Makeup.

As Merit Beauty products intend, each shadow takes seconds to blend and is also a great choice when used as a base before applying a shimmer over the top and when different shades are blended together.

I’m not a stranger to using my fingertips when applying eyeshadow, but thankfully for days when I’m on the go or just fancy using a brush, Merit is also launching Brush No.2, available to purchase alongside the shadows for £22.

It’s double-ended with a fluffy end and a tapered end for extra precise application along the lash line.
