Christmas dinner is one of the trickiest meals to prepare.
There are so many different elements to think about – from juicy turkey to crispy roast potatoes.
So to make the process less stressful on the big day, some cook the meal on December 24 instead.
This way, they can reheat the roast on Christmas Day and spend more time with their families.
On Facebook, a mum sparked debate when she considered having the meal a day early.
She asked the Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas group: “Looking for folks opinion on eating the BIG Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve…..is this a thing?”
She added: “Just feel I miss out on spending quality time with my children on the special day cause I’m always so busy in the kitchen.”
The post garnered 1,300 comments – and people were very divided on the topic.
Some think having a Christmas Eve dinner is a great way to save time and effort on the big day.
One responder wrote: “We have done this for the past 2 years and it’s great!!
“We make sure we make plenty so we can just reheat the leftovers next day so we get to spend it with the kids.”
Another said: “My mum has always done this!
“She spends all day cooking Xmas eve and has everyone over.
“And then Xmas day we just eat the same again as she has a big hostess trolley to keep everything in.
“It's a much more relaxed day.”
And a third added: “What a brilliant idea! Then eat all the chocolate on Christmas Day.”
Others weren’t so enthusiastic about the idea.
A commenter said: “In my opinion one of the best things about Christmas day is cooking the meal.”
Another argued: “It's just a Sunday roast. Why does it take so long?”
And a third suggested: “Prepare as much as you can the day before perhaps? Good luck!”
