Jamba Juice just took a page from Dunkin’s book! The California-based chain announced earlier this month that it was officially dropping the “Juice” from its name and becoming “Jamba” instead. The change is part of the company’s effort to show customers that it sells more than just juice, which is why the new moniker also coincides with a newly expanded menu and revamped restaurant look.
The brand now boasts a more inclusive tag line – “Smoothies, Juices and Bowls” – which it also hopes will reflect its wider array of offerings.
“We’ve been offering balanced ingredients on the go for almost 30 years and must continue to evolve to meet our guests’ ever-changing definition of wellness,” said Geoff Henry, Jamba’s president, in a statement. “We’re staying true to our heritage as an innovator in the space and refreshing the brand to stay focused on how we can make it easier, better and faster for guests to live a more active lifestyle.”
While juices will remain on the menu, they will now be joined by smoothies, bowls, boosts and fun size on-the-go bites that will cater to customers with specific dietary needs. New additions include items such as the plant-based Vanilla Blue Sky Smoothie and Bowl with naturally occurring blue spirulina and steel-cut oatmeal. Additional dishes are expected to debut throughout 2019.
Furthermore, the reinvigorated menu was crafted by culinary experts and an in-house registered dietitian to feature fresh, high quality whole-food ingredients that are free from high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors and artificial colors.
To go with an updated menu and shortened name, new Jamba locations will also have a modernized design to include the new logo and whirl, which is described as a “modern interpretation” of its predecessor. All new locations will feature an authentic and approachable ambiance inspired by the chain’s local juice shop roots. Expect to see modern touches of light wood, freshness cues that showcase the real ingredients going in to every made-to-order smoothie, juice or bowl and colorful and expressive elements.
Last but not least, Jamba is releasing an all-new mobile friendly website and mobile app geared to the on-the-go customer. The new app, available for iOS and Android, has been built from the ground up to include customization and personalization features such as order ahead capabilities, nutritional preferences, integrated gift cards and a new loyalty program.
Jamba’s change comes about a year after Dunkin’ Donuts formally shortened its name to Dunkin’ and after IHOP changed its name to IHOb in 2018 in an effort to sell more hamburgers.
