One company is doing its best to spread a little more festive cheer this year.
There’s no denying the coronavirus pandemic has been tough on so many industries, particularly creative professions, but a new company is doing its bit to employ those in need of work.
Green Elf Trees is hiring out-of-work musicians and performers to deliver Christmas trees and decorations this holiday season.
£3 from every purchase will go towards a buyer’s choice of three charities: Great Ormond Street Hospital, Shelter or Dogs Trust.

Smaller trees start from £34.99 with miniature table trees available for those in flats with less space. In terms of types, there’s the classic, fuller Nordmann Fir or the Fraser Fir – which is slimmer, darker in colour and is better at keeping its needles.
On the decoration front, there are LED lights and Christmassy toppers as well as sustainable advent calendars.
Anyone looking to buy some treats from the company can select a week-long window when ordering and Green Elf Trees will confirm an exact day at a later date.
Currently, this service is only available in and around the London area – and customers can use the postcode checker on the website to see if they qualify for an order. All deliveries are contact-free and made by PPE-wearing drivers.
What’s more, to keep things more sustainable, the business will collect your tree after the Christmas period, where it will taken to be up-cycled or composted.
Every customer will also receive a link to a playlist consisting of songs by the musicians who work at the company.
Green Elf Trees has been brought about by the same people behind Plantsavers – a lockdown business which sold plants from closed garden centres that would have otherwise gone to waste.
Of course, with the lockdown, getting a Christmas tree delivered straight to our door seems like a good idea.
Other companies offering home delivery for trees at similar prices (in and around the London area) include Pines and Needles and Fantastic Gardeners.
For elsewhere in the UK there’s RealChristmasTrees.co.uk.
