Peta Todd has revealed her sibling transitioned to a woman four years ago and now goes by the name Faye.
The London-born former glamour model, 34, who is married to British cyclist Mark Cavendish, said her sibling is now known as Faye.
Mother-of-four Peta, who is spending the lockdown at their family home on the Isle of Man, revealed that Faye, who is nine years younger than her, struggled to open up to their mother about their transition because she is religious but that she was supportive of her decision nonetheless.
Speaking on the Superdrug Healthful Podcast, Peta said: ‘My sibling has transitioned. They have now transitioned and live as Faye. They are nine years younger than me, so my children grew up knowing them as their uncle.’
She added that she didn’t know that it was something Faye wanted, saying: ‘To say that I knew they would want to transition is incorrect because I didn’t, but I would have probably had a sneaking suspicion that even though they always had girlfriends, maybe I thought they were gay.

‘We couldn’t be more different in every possible way but we get on really well and we had a conversation and I was like “Listen, do you only like girls?” and at the time they were like “No, but I’ve never had any relationship with a man but I’m open to not just girls”.’
Peta also spoke about how Faye found it hard to talk to other members of their family about the transition because their mother’s side of family come from Missionaries -but that they were still supportive.
She explained: ‘Faye found it really difficult to speak to my mum who’s obviously in that generation.
‘My mum’s side of the family all come from Missionaries, the super religious side of the family. It blew her mind completely, and she really wanted to kind of understand everything.’

However she went on to explain how her own four children embraced the change easily.
Peta explained on the podcast: ‘I would be quite open to say: “Excuse my ignorance if I say something the wrong way but talk to me about this so I can know how to navigate and with the kids. They’re not going to care.
‘They love you regardless, but they’ve known you as your dead name and you want to be known as a different name. They’re not going to be able to get that right every single time.” And they were like “that’s fine”.’
Peta met her husband Cavendish in November 2010, and he proposed to her after the London Olympics in 2012 (pictured together)
‘But my son Finnbar, who was 10 at the time was like ‘cool, no problem.’ It wasn’t a big deal. Delilah would comment that she really liked what Faye was wearing. They found their own way to this new relationship.
‘I have really high hopes for our generations of children if it’s spoken about more and represented more that they’re no different to any person.’
