Royal Mail parcel delivery ‘disruptions are likely’ this week – UK postcodes affected

Royal Mail did not make deliveries yesterday due to the bank holiday. This means more customers could be waiting for parcels today and the postal service has shared an update on delays.

Royal Mail made many of its last deliveries on Saturday last week.

It explained there would be no deliveries on Sunday and Monday due to the bank holiday.

A statement said: “Weekend delivery and collection services are expected to take place on Saturday 29 May.

“There are no collections on Sunday 23 May.

“There will be no deliveries or collections on Monday 31 May as this is a Bank Holiday.”

The delivery of parcels and letters will resume today and Royal Mail stated most services will run as normal.

“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week,” it said.

However, the postal service added some areas are likely to experience delays.

In those areas, deliveries should be made at least every other day.

It continued: “Due to resourcing issues, associated self-isolation and safety measures, deliveries in some areas are likely to be disrupted this week.

“We aim to deliver at least every other day in these areas, though this may not always be possible in offices temporarily affected by very high levels of absence.”

Following a leak last week, the delivery office in Dunstable is still closed which will affect those in LU5 and LU6 postcodes.

A statement continued: “The Customer Service Point at our Dunstable Delivery Office, located at 59 High Street North, Dunstable, LU6 1JH, remains closed for health and safety reasons, due to water damage caused by a roof leak.

“The facility is likely to be closed for the rest of the week while repairs are completed.

“Alternative posting facilities can be accessed at the Queensway Post Office, 13 Queensway, Dunstable, LU5 4ET.”

Those who do not receive their parcels when expected are able to find out more about their parcels by tracking them online.

This can be done through the website or on the app.

If using the app, Royal Mail shared an update which aims to make the process easier for customers.  

A post on Royal Mail Twitter explained: “You can now track your items on the Royal Mail App without having to register.”

The app will inform Britons when they are likely to receive their deliveries.
