Cristiano Ronaldo misses sitter as he balloons cross over from six yards and hangs head in Man Utd's clash with Norwich

CRISTIANO RONALDO provided one of the misses of the season at Carrow Road.

Inexplicably, with the goal gaping the Portuguese legend, 36, blazed over from just six yards to put the Premier League game against Norwich City to bed.

The embarrassing miss came after some good work from Marcus Rashford on the left, who beat his man and crossed the ball in low.

Ronaldo met it with his left foot, but skied it over the bar to the shock of his team mates in the 86th minute.

Afterwards, the ex-Real Madrid star hung his head in shame following the horror moment.

Moments earlier, Ronaldo did get his name on the scoresheet by scoring from the spot.

The famous No7 was wrestled to the ground in the box, before converting his penalty.

It was Ronaldo's seventh goal of the campaign, although he wasn't at his best.

The goal was the difference between the two teams, with United edging past the Canaries in an unconvincing 1-0 win.

However, they had David De Gea to thank who was awarded man-of-the-match for a string of good saves.

It means the Red Devils move back up to fifth spot above rivals Arsenal with the victory.
