Darts fans in hysterics as Ricky Evans copies Ronaldo’s Siuuu celebration

Darts fans enjoyed Ricky Evans' surprise siiuuuu celebration during the first day of the 2022 PDC World Darts Championships.

Facing off against Nitin Kumar in round one, the 31-year-old adopted the famous celebration, much to the delight of fans both inside Alexandra Palace and at home on social media.

One viewer joked: “Don't tell me darts isn't a sport, look at the athleticism on that suiii Ronaldo would be proud.”

Another said: “Of course Ricky Evans was going to do a SIU on stage.”

A third said: “Ricky Evans doing the SIU celebration…The darts is back.”

Another one said: “Big man knows how to get the crowd going.”

The celebration has been made hugely famous by Cristiano Ronaldo in recent years.

Manchester United fans have been enjoying seeing the superstar deploy the celebration at Old Trafford for the first time following his move back to the club over the summer.

The celebration, however, came from his time at Real Madrid – the club who he scored a record 450 goals for – as he incorporated the Spanish word for ‘yes’ into the move.

Discussing the celebration's origin in 2019, he said: “I started to say ‘si’, it’s like ‘yes’, when I was in Real Madrid.

“When we would win, everyone would say ‘siiiii’ and so I started to say it. I don’t know why, it was natural.

“I was in the USA and we played against Chelsea [in 2013] and I don’t know where this is coming from, the celebration.

“I just scored the goal and it just came out. It was just natural, to be honest. Since that, I started to do it more often and I feel like the supporters and the fans see it and they’re like ‘Cristiano, siiiiiiuuuu’.

“I’m like ‘wow! People are reminded of me because of it!’ So it’s good, and I’ll continue doing it like that.”
