'The next Usain Bolt is here!' – Watch Erriyon Knighton, 18, shatter Olympic legend's junior 200m record

ERRIYON KNIGHTON has been hailed as the "next Usain Bolt" after smashing the Jamaican's junior 200m record.

The American sprinter is being tipped for big things after a race that also saw him register the fourth fastest overall time over 200m in HISTORY.

His 19.49-second sprint time yesterday saw him leave the opposition trailing in his wake.

Knighton is only 18, leaving pundits and fans excited for his future.

Even Olympic legend Usain Bolt only breached the 19.5 mark at the age of 21, leaving Knighton in a league of his own at his age.

His time also saw him put in one of the fastest sprints of all time over £200m.

Only Bolt at 19.19, fellow Jamaican speedster Yohan Blake (19.26), and American icon Michael Johnson (19.32) have set faster times.

Fans were quick to take to Twitter and compare Knighton to the world's fastest man Bolt, who repeatedly smashed sprint records on the biggest of stages.

One wrote: "The next Usain Bolt is here! 18-year-old Erriyon Knighton just ran the 4th fastest 200 meters in history, which would have been the world record until 1996!

"He’s only behind Bolt, Yohan Blake, and Michael Johnson on the all-time lists now."
