Alexandra Burke is one of the brave celebrities taking on tough tasks in the new series of Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The show sees 12 stars push themselves both mentally and physically, as they undergo a series of SAS selection challenges. In a recent interview, pop star Alexandra opened up about her time on the programme and how the experience “changed” her.

Celebrity SAS is back on Channel 4, featuring a wide range of famous faces taking on harsh challenges in the wilds of the Scottish Hebrides.

The series sees the celebrity contestants head to the remote island of Raasay, on one of the toughest selection courses yet.

Alexandra opened up about how the show has impacted her life in a recent interview with Express.co.uk and other press.

When asked if her experiences on the show helped her in any way, Alexandra replied: “It definitely did.

“All I can say – that I’ve always said to my family when I got back – I got introduced to my self worth.

“That’s it. I can’t put it any clearer than that. My friends who know me well and my family have all said ‘you are a changed person since SAS’.

“They can’t, they literally are just like, ‘every time we see you, you’re just a different human being’, and I can feel that change.

“I remember returning home, pulling up on my street and I went, ‘I don’t want to be here. I want to be back on base with everybody else, where there’s no phones and everything stripped from you.’

“Because none of that matters. None of that matters at all, and it just puts things into perspective deeply,” she added.

The singer went on to further detail how the experience gave her “strength”, and how she believes her late mother would be proud of her hard work.

Alexandra commented: “It definitely gave me strength that I’ve never seen before.

“I genuinely believe if my mum was here and seeing this and seeing the strength it has given me, she’d be so proud of that because, it, I just…

“I struggle to put it into words. It’s a very deep meaning that I genuinely feel if I put my mind to something I can absolutely do, because why not?

“We all can do whatever we choose to do in life, we all have the power to put things into action if we really want it that badly.

“We can do it, because us as humans, we are all remarkable people and we’re all unique, and we’re all special, so why can’t we go for what we want and love in life?

“This show has completely made me realise that,” Alexandra revealed.

Starring alongside Alexandra in the series are Ore Oduba, James Cracknell, Saira Khan, Kerry Katona, Ulrika Jonsson, Wes Nelson, Vicky Pattison, Jake Quickenden, Kieron Dyer, Aled Davies, and Shanaze Reade.

Ore has also spoken highly about his time on the show, noting how he felt a “special relationship” with his fellow Celebrity SAS co-stars.

He explained: “It’s amazing to be able to have that experience and share it with other people because no one else knows what we’ve been through, apart from others who’ve done the series before.

“We will always have that, you know, over the next decades we’ll always know what we’ve been through and I think that’s a very special relationship that we all have.”

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins airs Sundays on Channel 4 at 9 pm.
