Ben Shephard to Laura Tobin – GMB stars’ wives and husbands you never see on ITV

Good Morning Britain wakes up the nation each day with a winning combination of hard-hitting news and light entertainment, thanks to its cast of stars.

However, the stars of GMB tend to keep their private lives separate from the show, with many raising children and returning home to their partners once filming wraps.

Stars like Ben Shephard, Charlotte Hawkins and Piers Morgan are happily married, with their better halves occasionally making an appearance on social media.

Other stars, such as Ranvir Singh and Alex Beresford, have been open about their recent separations, letting viewers know they are single.

Below, we take a look at the wives and husbands supporting the GMB stars we know and love behind-the-scenes.

Charlotte Hawkins

GMB newsreader Charlotte celebrated her 12-year wedding anniversary this year with hubby Mark Herbert.

Having first met in 2003, the lovebirds decided to tie the knot in Chichester Cathedral, with Charlotte's dad acting as the clergyman at the altar.

Since then, Charlotte, 45, has occasionally offered insight into their marriage, revealing her biggest peeve is when Mark leaves his laundry on the floor beside the washing basket.

Charlotte and Mark welcomed their only child together in 2015, naming their little girl Ella Rose as they proudly announced the news.

The sweethearts were thrilled to become parents, with Charlotte admitting she considered IVF at one point as they struggled to conceive.

Speaking to OK! Magazine earlier this year, she said: "It was hard. It's something you long and pray for but it's one of those things that you don't necessarily know is going to happen for you.

"I was really worried it wasn't going to happen for us and we were going to have to face the fact that we couldn't have children naturally."

Ben Shephard

Doubling up as both a host on both GMB and Tipping Point, Ben Shephard leads a similarly busy life off-camera.

Along with his wife Annie Shephard, the 45-year-old is a dad to two teenage sons – Jack, 14, and Sam, 13.

Ben and Annie tied the knot back in 2004, after dating for nine years.

Celebrated a quarter of a century together earlier this year, Ben paid a sweet tribute to his leading lady over Instagram, proving they are happier than ever.

He swooned: "Can't quite believe another year has gone past, suddenly this one feels all the more poignant because of what's happening.

"16 years married to @mrsannieshephard 25 years together and it's fair to say the current climate is seriously testing the strength of her feelings towards me."

In a romantic gesture, he also took Annie to the venue of their wedding day – the Burgh Island Hotel – for a swish evening out.

Laura Tobin

GMB's resident weather expert Laura Tobin prefers to keep her romantic life entirely separate from her media persona.

The 39-year-old meteorologist has been wed to hubby Dean Brown for the past decade, but never shares photos of him on social media or takes him to red carpet events.

Laura and Dean fell for each other while studying at Reading University, where the ITV star trained in Physics and Meteorology.

Reflecting on their love story in an interview with Daily Express last year, she said: "The thing about Dean was he didn't become too intense, send me loads of flowers, and he didn't love me more than anything on Earth.

"Our relationship just grew and after about six months we fell in love with each other.

"When my friends pointed out we'd been dating for two months and I hadn't dumped him, I was like "Oh yeah!" It wasn't scary and I knew it was meant to be."

Highlighting the strength of their marriage, Laura added: "14 years later we're still going."

The sweethearts welcomed their first child together two years ago, naming their little daughter Charlotte Blossom.

Kate Garraway

Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper have heartbreakingly made headlines recently, after he was hospitalised with coronavirus in March.

The pair, who were married in September 2005, are both proud parents to Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11.

A mutual friend, the then-political editor of GMTV Gloria De Piero, set the lovebirds up on a date, and they hit it off instantly.

After Kate's stint on I'm A Celeb last year, Derek spoke lovingly about his wife while chatting with presenter Lorraine Kelly.

He said: "She was literally a superhero! She's doing brilliant… you know how lovely and strong she is – I think that's coming across. That's what people are seeing."

While Derek has woken up from his induced coma and no longer has Covid in his system, he remains in hospital in a state of "minimum consciousness".

In late October, he made a breakthrough in his condition, uttering his first word in over 200 days – "pain".

After the advancement, Kate remains hopeful about his condition, as she told Lorraine: "There is hope."

Sean Fletcher

Away from the cameras, GMB star Sean Fletcher is a proud dad of two, living in London with his wife of 21 years.

The 46-year-old fell for Welsh beauty Luned Tonderai in the late 90s, with the pair tying the knot before the turn of the millennium.

Ahead of their wedding day, Sean promised to learn his wife's native tongue – Welsh – and has since become fluent.

Today, they are parents to daughter Lili , 22, and son Reuben, 17, with the glamorous mum and dad regularly enjoying a date night together on the red carpet.

Earlier this year, Luned appeared alongside her hubby on an episode of Countryfile, marking a milestone in their relationship.

Signaling the special occasion, Sean tweeted: "I've been married to @lunedtonderai for 21 years and we've know each other for 26 years.

"But we'd never worked together, until last week when we filmed for
@BBCCountryfile @#hamptoncourt with @OpCentaur.

"She even makes a cameo appearance – you can watch it 7.15 pm Sunday @BBCOne."

Piers Morgan

While Piers is known to dominate interviews on GMB, it is his wife Celia Walden who wears the trousers at home.

Speaking on the show back in 2018, Celia confirmed she held the power in their relationship, saying: "Uhh yes, I think so!

"I think women are always quietly in charge, I just think it's best to let the men think that they are."

A former gossip columnist, Celia launched her career as a journalist for newspapers such as The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and the Evening Standard.

Celia, 44, who was born in Paris, has also written a book, with her novel Harm's Way hitting the shelves 12 years ago.

The pair tied the knot in June 2010, getting hitched at an intimate ceremony in the Oxfordshire village of Swinbrook.

Together, they share one daughter – Elise Morgan, nine – while Piers also has three sons from a previous marriage.
