After 18 months of turmoil that no one could have expected, several brands are launching their Christmas campaigns earlier than usual this year. Boots has collaborated with Academy Award winner Tom Hooper to create an uplifting festive film starring Jenna Coleman. has everything you need to know about where and when you can watch the advert. 

Doctor Who star Jenna stars as Joy who is gifted a magical bag by her Nan with the note, ‘This is what Christmas feels like’.

The magical bag contains the power to make Christmas special for all of Joy’s friends and family.

Joy realises the bag is full of never-ending gifts and tips it out onto her bed before leaping into the huge pile of Boots products. 

Throughout the advert, Joy surprises her friends and family with touching, unexpected presents.

She presents her friends with a camera on a night out and endless baubles to decorate the family Christmas tree. 

She even adds a pair of false eyelashes to a rather sad looking snowman. 

The advert concludes with Joy producing the perfect gift for her Nan from her ‘bag of joy’.

Explaining why she decided to take part in the Boots Christmas campaign, Jenna admitted the advert felt “really special”.

Jenna Coleman said: “I love Christmas and I’ve always loved Christmas films. 

“Working on ‘bags of Joy’ with Tom, and the beautiful imagination he brought, creating this magical little film felt really special. 

“Celebrating family, togetherness and the simple joy of giving mixed with a healthy dose of festive magic and charm felt so poignant this year. 

“I hope people enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

The Bags of Joy Christmas film will air for the first time on TV on Saturday 6 November during the Jonathan Ross Show on ITV.

Pete Markey, Chief Marketing Officer at Boots UK added: “After the challenges of the past 18 months, we felt it was more important than ever for Boots to bring joy to the nation by telling an uplifting, positive story at Christmas. 

“The story of Joy and her Nan embodies the spirit of a family Christmas and represents what many families will be doing this year, making heart-warming memories worth cherishing after a year apart in 2020.”
