Brookside and Hollyoaks star Ray Quinn transformed and has new career

Ray Quinn looks totally different now in comparison to his days on popular serial dramas Brookside and Hollyoaks.

The actor, who is perhaps best known for competing in The X Factor back in 2006, was pictured sporting a much longer hairstyle, and a beard.

The 33-year-old shared a snap of his new look on Instagram, as he told his followers that he hoped they all had a ‘boss’ Christmas.

‘Looking good’, wrote one fan, while another added: ‘nice pic’.

Ray shot to fame on Brookside, where he played Antony Murray for three years between 2000 and 2003.

Following Brookside’s conclusion, he would go on to feature in an episode of crime drama Merseybeat, before auditioning for The X Factor in 2006.

He made it all the way to the final, losing out to Leona Lewis, who would go on to win the show. Ray, however, continued to pursue his dreams, releasing an album the following year.

In 2009, he took part in Dancing On Ice. Partnered with Maria Filipov, he would ultimately win the competition – and the dancing duo would do so again in 2014 during a special All-Stars series of the ITV show.

Ray, 33, joined Hollyoaks in 2018, playing far-right extremist Jonny Baxter, who radicalised mainstay Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson).

Ray now works alongside bothers Robin and Darren for the family carpet fitting business, and in April, he took a literal trip down memory lane while working in his new job as a carpet fitter, landing back on Brookside Close.

Joining his brothers to help lay down carpets there, Ray said he was ‘humbled’ to go back to his roots to help his family out, after work dried up amid the pandemic.

He told The Mirror: ‘My dad was a carpet fitter all his life. He taught my brothers how to do it.

‘Dad knew I was going to help Rob and encouraged me to do it – but laughed when I said I’d lifted my first tool.’
