Clara, 36, is best known for hosting the midday show on BBC Radio One, but she will now be swapping her seat behind the microphone for a place on the Strictly Come Dancing line-up. The news was announced on Greg James’ Breakfast show on Wednesday morning where she was joined on the phone by former contestant of the BBC dance programme, Scott Mills, 46. As she spoke about her excitement and nerves of taking part, she expressed her worries about her mother’s reaction to seeing her in a different light.

Speaking with the 34-year-old presenter on his show, Clara said: ““I’m usually the first one on the dance floor and the last one off.

“And you know I love a short skirt to upset my mum, so guess what, I’m doing Strictly come Dancing!” she declared.

Speaking about taking part, Clara also added: “As we know this year has been a real challenge and escapism through dancing is something I know we all enjoy.

“So to be taught by a pro and live a fantasy is something that I can’t wait to fully embrace, see you on the dancefloor!”
