CORONATION Street bosses have locked in actor Daniel Brocklebank with a new contract to keep him on the cobbles until 2021.
There will be celebrations behind the scenes that he's staying loyal to the soap after a max exodus of stars.
Unlike some of the cast's biggest stars, the actor who plays vicar Billy Mayhew has pledged to stay.
Lucy Fallon, who played Bethany Platt, Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor), Faye Brookes (Kate Connor), Tristan Gemmill (Robert Preston), Katie McGlynn (Sinead Tinker) and Bhavna Limbachia (Rana Habeeb) left the show within a few months.
Insiders say Daniel is the latest in a string of stars to sign on the dotted line.
Daniel revealed: "I have just signed up for my 7th year on Corrie.
"It's fantastic. It's nice to get back to some normality."
He said on Twitter earlier this month: “Today I got new scripts in my pigeon hole… I’m not going to lie… I actually squeaked as I read them.
"They’re fantastic!! Some great stuff coming up for Billy & co on @itvcorrie.
"I hope you enjoy watching it as much I’ll enjoy shooting it!’”
Street favourites Andy Whyment, who plays lovable Kirk Sutherland, and Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) both recently announced they had signed new contracts.
Bosses were known to be desperate to keep Daniel on the show because he is about to get involved in an explosive storyline – the return of his ex, Todd Grimshaw.
The character is returning to Weatherfield after almost three years away, with him now played by newcomer Gareth Pierce.
The actor is set to make his debut in the soap this autumn and will take over the part previously played by Bruno Langley, who held the role for 16 years until his departure in 2017.
Gareth said: "I'm thrilled to be joining such an iconic show, and to have been entrusted with taking Todd forward into some really exciting storylines."
Earlier in the year, Corrie bosses said new mum Brooke Vincent had been given "as long as she needs" before deciding on her soap future.
