Coronation Street spoilers: Tracy Barlow’s new role unveiled as David rocked by tragedy

Corrie: Tracy Barlow says she wants to buy Ken’s house

Tracy (played by Kate Ford) has built quite a reputation for herself on Coronation Street as she is the proud owner of the florists and took over the Street Cars firm from her husband Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) for a short period. With such a business head on her shoulders, it’s any wonder why the mother-of-one hasn’t managed to buy up most of the properties on the cobbles. However, in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap, it seems she might be set to begin such a venture when David (Jack P Shepherd) discovers he can no longer afford to own his own home.

The drama kicks off next week when villain Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) disappears, meaning his development plans are off the cards.

As her business partner is nowhere to be seen, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) sets about correcting all of his wrongdoings.

She informs the locals they can keep their homes and happily hands them back the deeds to their own properties.

In David’s case, the property developer tells him she will see him back his home for the original price as her associate already bought it outright.

Unfortunately, this is easier said than done as the barber tells his wife Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) the money from the sale has ready gone.

This is because he used it to pay off the mortgage on the house and now he will have to apply for a new one to get their home back.

Within earshot of the conversation is Tracy and soon the cogs in her head are turning as she plots a new scheme.

The mother-of-one swiftly makes her move on Debbie and tells the businesswoman the original owner of Number 8 can no longer afford it.

Instead, the florist tells her she would like to purchase the deeds to the property, making her a new landlord on the cobbles.

However, knowing it is a tricky predicament, Debbie assures David he has the first refusal although she would like a quick sale.

Without enough money to snatch up the house, will this mean Tracy swans in and buys the property to add to her portfolio?

Not wanting to see the Platts homeless, though, the mother-of-one could go to the barber with a proposition.

The pair could reach a deal that would see the father-of-two pay rent on his house but this might not necessarily go down too well with David.

Speaking of his character, the actor who plays David, Jack, 33, said of his alter-ego: “David flies off the handle a bit too much for me to be friends with him!

“He’s always throwing his toys out the pram, running out the house and slamming the door, so I think he is nice in small doses but I wouldn’t go on holiday with him.

“It would be too much,” he added, so does this suggest the father-of-one will put up a fight as Tracy becomes his new landlord?

It seems viewers of the weeknight serial drama have been eager to see the florist’s more calculated side of late.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Bit worrying that Tracy Barlow has become the ultimate voice of reason over the last 6 months #corrie.”

Another added: “Can’t take it when Tracy Barlow is nice #corrie,” with a third posting: “Tracy is all heart isn’t she #Corrie.”

“Any episode with Tracy in is automatically better #Corrie,” a third remarked, so will viewers be seeing more of her as she takes on a new role?

Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7:30pm on ITV.
