Coronation Street’s Abi and Peter ‘affair’ twist as Debbie’s suspicions grow

Coronation Street character Abi Franklin, played by Sally Carman, sparks affair fears when Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) grows suspicious over her behaviour.

Next week, Coronation Street spoilers reveal that, Abi heads to a meeting for her addiction issues and is supported by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

While Abi thanks Peter for his support, Debbie watches on from a distance and her suspicions grow that maybe Abi doesn't have Kevin Webster's (Michael Le Vell) best interests at heart.

Recently, Abi ended up in hospital after an accident at the garage and she was left alone around medication.

This week, Abi's friends have concerns that her addiction problems are returning after she got clean and turned her life around.

Peter calls in at No11 and tells Abi that she really needs to get some help, after he grows suspicious of her.

It seems he's on to Abi's ways as the morphine she swiped from the hospital goes missing after he pays her a visit.

Peter's other half Carla Connor (Alison King) is suspicious when he lies about going to meet Abi.

But when she finds out he's trying to help her with her addiction struggles, she warns him to be careful as Abi used to be in love with him.

Over at Kevin's, his sister Debbie arrives with a big suitcase.

She warns Abi not to mess her older brother around, and Abi reassures her she would never dream of it.

But Debbie's not sure.

Abi calls Peter and tells him she'll be at the addiction meeting, but quickly kills the call when Kevin and Debbie arrive.

Debbie offers to make lunch so that she and Abi can get to know each other better, and Abi has no choice but to accept.

But her suspicions are kickstarted when Abi suddenly disappears.

Could there be more to these meetings than meets the eye?

Speaking on Lorraine on Tuesday, actress Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie, said: "She comes in and sees [Abi] with Peter and thinks, 'Is she looking after my brother or is she not?'

"She's very protective as a younger sister."

Coronation Street currently airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV
