Friday night’s Coronation Street saw Hope Stape (played by Isabella Flanagan) in court after she set fire to Alina Pop’s (Ruxandra Porojnicu) flat in the hope of killing the beautician. While Alina escaped the fire, she miscarried her baby with Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall). Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) was initially set to take the blame but eventually it was Hope who had to take responsibility for her actions. In the family court, it was decided Hope would have to go have therapy with Fiz and Tyrone despairing what would happen to their daughter. As they sought comfort in each other’s arms, it became clear there was unfinished business between the two. How will Alina react?
After leaving Hope and Fiz, Tyrone returned to Alina who was keen to celebrate their engagement and ordered her boyfriend to get them a bottle of Prosecco.
Alina insisted they enjoy a nice takeaway and informed Tyrone she would order in an Italian takeaway.
However, when Tyrone went to the shop, he was distracted when Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) revealed he and Gemma (Dolly Rose Campbell) didn’t want Hope around their twins any longer.
Tyrone rushed round to see Fiz, who blamed the mechanic for Hope’s behaviour, insisting it was his fault for leaving the girls behind to start a romance with Alina.
As Tyrone broke down in tears, feeling incredibly guilty for the hurt he’d caused, Fiz opened the Prosecco and poured them each a glass.
Fiz explained neither of them could have predicted how Hope would react to Tyrone’s new romance and as they shared a drink, it was clear they still had a connection.
Tyrone leaned in for a kiss and initially Fiz pulled away but it wasn’t long before they were locking lips once more.
It wasn’t until Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) returned home, Tyrone pulled away and declared he had to get back home to Alina.
But when he got back to the flat, Alina was clearly annoyed as she asked: “Is Hope okay?”
“Yeah, she just wanted a bedtime story,” Tyrone replied. “Today must have been hard on her.”
Alina continued: “Where is the Prosecco?” with her fiancee explaining: “I must have left it at home when I went to see Hope.”
Unimpressed, the beautician commented: “This is your home, our home. We should celebrate. I’ll go and get another bottle.”
As Tyrone apologised, Alina told him: “It’s okay, I’m just happy today is over. Now that all this is finished with Hope, we can go on with our lives. Aren’t you excited?”
Tyrone feigned excitement as Alina left the flat but it was clear the mechanic was having doubts about the speed of which their relationship was moving.
Next week there will be more doubt about his relationship as Tyrone is guilt ridden about his feelings for Fiz and the pair are awkward around each other as they meet the youth justice officer.
Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) sees Tyrone and Fiz deep in discussion and is suspicious.
Unsure of how much Emma overheard, Tyrone blathers an explanation the and Fiz were discussing childcare before he presents Alina with the expensive ring she wanted.
Alina’s thrilled, while Emma tries to work out if he’s genuine or if the gesture is purely for her benefit.
As Tyrone continues to harbour his feelings for Fiz, it surely won’t be long before the pair reunite once again.
How will Alina react when she finds out her partner has been having an affair with his ex behind his back?
Knowing Hope is the reason Tyrone has been pulled back to Fiz, could Alina frame the young girl for another fire in order to break up her partner’s family?
If it appeared Hope had started another fire and injured another resident, perhaps sister Ruby or even Chesney’s son Joseph, the youngster could be sent to a juvenile facility.
If she can’t have Tyrone all to herself, Alina may do anything she can to stop Fiz from having her family back together.
But if Alina does try to frame Hope, will she get away with it or will she be locked up herself?
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm.
