Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has denied that there is a crisis at the soap as several high profile cast members including Lucy Fallon and Kym Marsh recently quit. As we caught up with him at the British Soap Awards, he rubbished tabloid rumours of behind the scenes disharmony and said that it’s the nature of soap that people will come and go.
Confirming that he is more than happy to stay where he is, Daniel, who plays vicar Billy Mayhew revealed that he has just signed another contract to remain on the Street for another year – and the coming months will be lighter for his character.
Billy is currently in a relationship with bad boy Paul, something which Dan reckons his character seems particularly drawn to, and he added that after scenes of falling from cliffs and taking drugs in church, there are happier scenes on the horizon.
But could Paul bring out that more mischievous edge we know lurks beneath the dog collar?
Well Dan wasn’t ruling it out and we are here for it!
