Dan Walker and his professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova performed an American Smooth on Saturday night’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing. The couple danced to Roger Miller’s track King of the Road on the BBC show. However, after the dance duo finished their performance it became clear the judging panel were in disagreement as to whether it was a good dance or not. Strictly judge Anton du Beke swiftly came to Dan’s defence after he received criticism from Craig Revel Horwood.
After watching Dan and Nadiya’s routine, Strictly host Tess Daly turned to the judging panel to hear their thoughts.
Craig was first to share his views and insisted he wasn’t impressed with Dan’s dancing.
“It lacked any feeling I thought,” Craig began, as he insisted there was a “lack of style” throughout the dance.
“This should be really styled out and it wasn’t. There was no swing and sway. It wasn’t for me I’m afraid,” he said.
“No, don’t listen!” Anton shouted, encouraging Dan to ignore Craig’s comments.
“I hope you thought it was smooth, Anton,” Tess said.
Anton made it clear he was impressed with Dan’s performance, exclaiming: “I wanted Dan the man, I got Dan the dancer!
“He suddenly appeared in front of me. You took off, you took off down the floor. Your hold is amazing,” he added.
