Escape to the Chateau has followed Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree’s inspiring journey on Channel 4 as they have brought a French castle, Château de la Motte-Husson, back to its former glory. The estate is immense, with ongoing work still being done to the popular destination. While the grounds are vast, how the couple maintains it may surprise viewers.
Does the Escape to the Chateau castle have its own staff?
Escape to the Chateau’s return has been welcomed by fans; keen to see the castle again after it closed back in 2020.
Sadly, it is still closed to the public, with there little sign of it opening again anytime soon.
However, the Strawbridge family are still keeping busy on the grounds, with the season updating viewers on the latest changes to the estate.
It may surprise fans to discover that the chateau itself does not have any staff, with the couple maintaining it themselves.
There is no cleaning staff employed at all, with Strawbridge and Adoree keeping it up to the high standards they set themselves.
On thechateau.tv, the website notes: “We don’t have a team of cleaners, although we do have helpers when we have events…I love cleaning though, so it’s no problem!
“We don’t use all the rooms when we don’t have guests staying, so really it’s only like cleaning a ‘normal’ house when we are here on our own.”
The estate typically hosts large wedding venues, and events, opening up the vast house to the public to stay in and enjoy.
Yet, since it closed, most of the rooms have remained empty for the best part of two years, which has inadvertently made the couple’s job maintaining the home much easier.
When the destination was open to the public, Strawbridge and Adoree didn’t shy away from getting their guests to help out around the grounds.
They offered numerous activities and experiences, with a plethora of holidays to choose from, be it a relaxing trip or a physical one.
One such activity, the Working Garden Day, would see guests get their hands dirty as they helped maintain the chateau’s beautiful gardens.
When will the chateau reopen?
As the chateau closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it could be some time before the public can visit the estate again.
On the website, all the events are currently unavailable to book, with no return date stated on the site.
Strawbridge and Adoree updated fans on the situation through their FAQ section of the website.
Answering a question on when it will reopen, the couple wrote: “In light of the current climate, we have made the tough decision to keep The Chateau closed for weddings and events at the moment.
“We feel it is our duty and responsibility to play our part in keeping everyone safe.
“Without an end date in sight, nor a date we know the world can get back to normal and hug again, we cannot take on any new enquiries.”
Of course, the ongoing situation is ever-changing, so fans should keep an eye on the website for any further updates.
For now, viewers can enjoy the chateau on the screen, with the latest season continuing on Channel 4.
Escape to the Chateau continues Sunday, December 12, on Channel 4.
