Matthew Perry has got all our hopes up once again that a Friends reunion is around the corner as he teased ‘big news’ is on the way.
Speculation that we could soon have Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Joey, Chandler and Ross back on our screens and in our lives again has been rife over the past few months, and now the 50-year-old actor has reignited that rumour mill once again.
Taking to Twitter, Matthew simply wrote: ‘Big news coming.’
Could he BE anymore vague?
Naturally, it didn’t take long before Friends fans got ahead of themselves, with one person writing: ‘Reunion??? It’s 2020 and everyone including Emma has woken up from their nap!!!’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘FRIENDS REUNION??’
Back in December, Matthew’s co-star Jennifer Aniston gave us hope as she insisted that the Friends cast are still pushing for a reunion special.
After previously teasing us all on The Ellen Show that she was ‘working on something’ with Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matthew, the actress confessed they’re ‘trying’ to get something in our midst.
While Jennifer admitted that she currently knows ‘nothing’ about the production of a reboot, she did add to People: ‘And I will just continue with… we’re trying.’
She continued: ‘It’s a never-ending question, isn’t it? What else could make a group of six actors feel more proud.
‘It’s bringing people joy on a daily basis.’
This comes after reports in November claimed that Friends creators were in talks to reunite on HBO Max.
‘Talks are currently underway for an unscripted reunion special,’ an insider told The Hollywood Reporter, with the publication also making it clear that a deal is ‘far from done and agreements with cast and creatives still need to be hammered out’.
Could this be what Matthew is referring to? Only time will tell…
Friends is available to stream on Netflix in the UK.
