What happened to Karls Monzon?
Over the course of six episodes, fans got to meet Karls Monzon, one of the members of the group who tried to steal millions of dollars – $7.4 million (£5.3 million) to be exact.
As shown in the series, the robbery took place in Miami International Airport and was almost one of the biggest thefts in American history.
For Karls and his wife, they just wanted a baby, but after countless tries and sadly, multiple miscarriages, they took the adoption route.
Yet, they were unprepared for the costs that come with adoption, so Karls decided to take matters into his own hands.
Karls brought together a group of his friends and together they plotted to steal $7.4 million in Miami, which Netflix’s docu-series covers.

Karls took weeks of planning for the operation, a good deal of which he spent watching true-crime documentaries and crime drama films to cover every possible outcome.
The heist itself was simple, his friend Onelio Diaz worked as a Brinks security guard and informed Karl about an $80 million (£57 million) offload at Miami’s International Airport.
Once a week a plane would come to drop the cash off, which was then loaded onto the back of a truck with the doors wide open and no security to oversee it.
With this knowledge, Karls got to work assembling his team of friends and family, and all were prepared to execute the plan.
The heist itself went off without a hitch, except for one moment when Karls’ facemask fell off, however, no evidence was found at the scene.
The group pulled up to the van, ordered the works on the ground and loaded up the money before speeding away.
All went well for months, with the FBI struggling to find any leads on the suspects, however, that changed when they offered $150,000 for new information.
This led to one of Karls’ friends coming forward and providing the names of all involved, with the FBI tapping their phones.
Then, a series of incriminating phone calls led to Karls and the rest of the group being arrested in March of 2006.
Karls pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison, yet, he was released in 2016 on parole.
He then spent months living in a halfway house before getting a job as a truck driver.
Karls and his wife are no longer together, and he still doesn’t have any kids, however, his wife is in a new relationship with two children.
Heist dropped on Netflix on July 4 and has already become one of the most popular shows on the platform, racing ahead in the most-watched charts.
