Strictly Come Dancing have confirmed Kym Marsh will not take place in next week’s live show after testing positive for coronavirus. The Coronation Street star and Graziano Di Prima are expected to return to the dance floor the following Saturday.
A Strictly spokesperson said: “Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week.”
This is the first time this year that a celebrity has had to pull out of the live show after testing positive for coronavirus.
However, Graziano has experienced this situation before when he was partnered with Judi Love in 2021.
The Loose Women panellist was forced to miss a week of Strictly after a positive Covid result.
Last weekend, Kym found herself just one position away from the bottom of the leaderboard.
Her Paso Doble was well received by the judges however the quality of performances in Blackpool was outstanding.
Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas all scored the Coronation Street star eight while Anton Du Beke dished out a nine.
But a score of 33 didn’t stop Kym desperately needing the public’s support.
After her Paso Doble during Blackpool Week, Kym took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support.
She said: “We are through week 10!! We are on cloud 9, THANK YOU THANK you so much!! We are living a dream with open eyes!!
“Much love to you all!! keep supporting us please and.. KEEEP DANCING.” [Sic]
She avoided the dance off having been saved by the public vote, and viewers will be disappointed to hear she will not dance this weekend.
This is not the first time she has fallen ill this season, as at the start of November she was replaced on Morning Live.
She revealed she had caught a bug and had hoped to make a speedy recovery so she could dance with Graziano.
At the time she said: “She said: “I’m all right, I just caught a little bug off one of the children, unfortunately.
