Line of Duty star Nigel Boyle has addressed the mood with fans after Sunday's nail-biting finale, saying some of them "set themselves up for disappointment".

During Sunday's Line of Duty series six finale, his character Ian Buckells was revealed to be H, however some fans weren't pleased with the outcome.

Nigel appeared on BBC Breakfast on Monday following the big reveal, and spoke of how it was inevitable that some people would be upset by Buckells being H.

He said: "If your expectations are somewhere, then you're setting yourselves up for disappointment, and that's not to say all fans are doing that, it's just everyone's got their own ideas and theories about how something's going to pan out, and if everyone does that someone's not going to be happy somewhere along the line."

The actor, who has also appeared in Peaky Blinders, went on: "The fans have been brilliant, so many people have invested so much in this series and some of the fan theories themselves have been outstanding, so I think there's always gonna be some element of disappointment.

"You can't have every series end with a big shoot out, urgent exit required. Sometimes the subtler message is more important."
