Ozark: Jason Bateman say series four ending is 'satisfying'
Erin Pierce (played by Madison Thompson) went through quite the rollercoaster ride of emotions following her introduction in season three of Ozark. The daughter to scheming and criminal lawyer Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer), Erin moved to the Ozarks with her mother in order for the cartel’s legal aid to keep closer tabs on money laundering husband and wife duo Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney), although this was unbeknownst to the teen. However, as things began to unravel around her in the closing moments of the Netflix drama’s third season, Erin’s future remained somewhat up in the air – until now.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Ozark season 3.
Erin had spent most of Ozark season three forming a bond with the Byrde children Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) and Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz).
With their parents’ illegal doings on behalf of the Navarro Cartel taking up the majority of their diaries, the teenagers were left to pretty much roam free and entertain themselves.
And with Erin now exposed to a new way of life following her move from Chicago, she soon embraced the role of rebellious teen.
However, it all quickly came tumbling down following an outburst from Wendy’s brother Ben (Tom Pelphrey) who exposed the entire criminal enterprise to Helen’s unsuspecting daughter in a furious outburst.

The explosive rant ultimately led to Ben’s heartbreaking death at the hands of hitman Nelson (Nelson Bonilla) but it also resulted in a devastated Erin fleeing the Ozarks and heading back to her father, presumably in Chicago.
Helen faced bigger problems heading into the final moments of season three, however, and before she could attempt to patch things up with her daughter, she received a bullet in the back of the head again courtesy of Nelson.
So with Helen now out of the picture and with the cartel taking drastic measures to keep their operation under wraps by killing Ben, uncertainty has continued to surround Erin’s future.
But it looks like fans will indeed get the answers they’re looking for when season four rolls around following a statement made by actor Thompson on her Instagram page.
Sharing a clip of her time on Ozark with her 18.5k followers, Thompson captioned the montage: “Thankful for many parts of 2020.
“My family, friends new and old, my work, health, and much more.
“Looking forward to what all 2021 has in store… including more @ozark, duh.”
And this wasn’t the only major hint she’d be returning to the fray as she shared another selfie with Jonah star Gaertner.

After a fan asked to see a snap of Thompson with her co-star via her Instagram Stories, the Ozark star obliged with a smiley selfie of the two.
“@Skylargaertner cannot wait to see more of you in 2021!” Thompson captioned the photo.
Gaertner reciprocated the sweet message to his co-star as he too shared a photo of he and Thompson enjoying New Year’s Eve together with season four filming currently underway.
With it looking like Thompson is currently enjoying time with the Ozark cast, it looks likely Erin’s story is far from over – but what lies ahead for her?
A number of theories have emerged since season three’s finale earlier this year surrounding Erin’s fate.
And it’s not looking good for the youngster as a number of the Ozark fandom are tipping Helen’s daughter to meet a similar fate to her parent.
After all, the evidence is certainly in support of the theory considering the drastic action the cartel did to silence Ben – even though he was Wendy’s brother.
Considering Helen’s no longer alive and Erin harbours incredibly sensitive knowledge about the cartel, surely Omar (Felix Solis) wouldn’t hesitate to take her out.
Ozark seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Netflix now.
