No one was more impressed with Chris Hemsworth’s performance in Avengers: Endgame than Robert Downey Jr.
Chris, 35, returned to the Marvel franchise as his beloved character Thor but he looked noticeably different thanks to the Asgardian god of thunder in exile.
The plot turn saw Thor with straggly hair and, even more shockingly, a pot-belly which had replaced his famously ripped torso.
No body-shaming here but, it was quite a surprise.
Robert, who plays Iron Man, has nothing but praise for the way Chris threw himself into his character’s new arc.
In an interview with Variety, RDJ said: ‘Boy, did he go bonkers. He went out to the bleeding edge.
‘I have a rule, which is if you think you’re at 70%, then start pulling back, because it’s probably at 105. He went out into some pretty risky atmosphere of nuttiness.’
Maybe Robert can take some credit for Chris’ performance though, as he is said to have given the Australian actor some nifty advice through the years.
Chris revealed: ‘There’s a mentor element with Downey. There’s an incredible friendship with Scarlett and [Jeremy] Renner and [Mark] Ruffalo.
‘With Chris Evans, I have a real brotherly bond. I think they wouldn’t pair us up on this press tour, because we just spend the whole time screwing around and none of it is on topic.’
Chris also recalled how he wore a 90-pound prosthetic fat suit for Thor’s new look and was jokingly mistaken to be ‘pregnant’ by some fans.
He said of wearing the fat suit: ‘‘It was certainly exhausting. I had weights on my hands and ankles just to have my arms and legs swing differently when I shuffled along through the set.’
