Nick Blaine (played by Max Minghella) wasn’t seen much in season three of The Handmaid’s Tale after he was promoted to the role of commander in Chicago. But, in a poll by Express.co.uk, it seems fans think he will be the one to save June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) from Gilead and herself as the dystopian world begins to crumble.

Fans were left scratching their heads in the middle of season three when Nick left Gilead.

June had bargained with the Canadian authorities in a bid to get Hannah back and to keep baby Nichole safe.

However, when Serena Joy (Yvonna Strahovski) told June he was one of the founding members of Gilead, she was torn.

In a final battle between June and Gilead, Express.co.uk readers believe Nick will come back for this mother of his child.

We asked fans: “Who will save June from Gilead?”

Unsurprisingly, the top choice was Nick, with 58 percent of fans certain he will return for June.

Being a founding member of Gilead, Nick could have a lot more power than anyone initially thought.

Meanwhile 16 percent think Luke Bankole (O-T Fagbegle) will break over the border to save his wife.

And, 14 percent believe it will be Serena Joy who will go against everything she has been fighting for to save June, maybe in the hopes of guaranteeing a place in Nichole’s life.

In the latest trailer released by Hulu for season four, it seems there will be a queue of people waiting to take their revenge against June.

Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) for example, wants June put on the wall for her atrocities and won’t stop until she is. Could she go on a quest alone to find June?

If Aunt June held a gun to June, Nick could find them, but, will he be shot trying to save June?

June has proved she is just as ruthless as anyone else in Gilead.

She could kill Aunt Lydia for killing Nick, and so she would be able to escape without the Aunt’s voice in her ear.

If Aunt Lydia and Nick were both killed, she could flee and get Hannah over the border to Canada once and for all.

Will June ever be free from Gilead though?

“I do think she is definitely reaching the end of her nine lives, it’s getting a little crazy,” actress Elisabeth recently told TV Line.

“But, I love the idea that she is public enemy number one.

“I think it’s that blind bravery that keeps her alive in a lot of ways, it’s the ability to put herself quite literally in that last scene, quite literally take a bullet.”

Could Elisabeth be hinting June’s life won’t be so easily saved?

The Handmaid’s Tale seasons 1-3 are available to stream on NowTV now.
