This Morning confirm Eamonn and Ruth will be on show on Friday despite ‘axe’

This Morning confirmed that Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will present the show on Friday despite claims they've been axed.

The television couple, both 60, are reportedly being replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on Fridays.

Despite the controversial news, the ITV daytime show has revealed that the pair will be hosting the popular programme tomorrow morning as usual.

Davina McCall, who was filling in for Holly Willoughby on Thursday, confirmed Eamonn and Ruth would be back tomorrow.

This Morning have squashed rumours that the ITV show have "sacked" the couple.

A spokesperson for the show told "We have a stellar presenting line up on This Morning in Holly and Phillip and Eamonn and Ruth.

"Any additions to this line up will be announced in due course."

Eamonn and Ruth haven't addressed the rumours, but their former colleague Fern Britton expressed her shock at the claims on social media.

Fern, who left This Morning in 2009, retweeted a post from The Sun columnist Dan Wootton about the rumours.

He tweeted: "What appalling treatment of Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford by This Morning and ITV.

"They have been absolute loyal rocks to that show through turmoil and are beloved behind the scenes. Sad to see."

Fern quoted Dan's post and exclaimed: "Oh no?"

She also shared another post from Dan, which said: "That doesn't take away from the fact Alison Hammond is a superstar who deserves the world. Overlooked for far too long by ITV, this is her moment."
